HISTORY OF 5 STAR WRESTLING
It all started in December 2010, when current owner “Diamond” Joe Rogers and Tony Hansen met. Both men, was early into their careers in pro wrestling and at the crossroads with wrestling. They decided to create a company, where talent would be given a chance to showcase their talent without the hassles of backstage politics. 5 Star Wrestling was born.
On November 12th, 2011, in Weirton WV. We held our first event featuring, Weirton’s own and former WWE super star Big Bully Busick. Bully would play a big part of the success we had in the early days of the company.
On April 19th, 2013, In Bully hometown of Weirton WV. He would wrestle his final match against Josef Von Schmidt. The whole town came out to see Bully to retire that night. We drew a packed house with 350 fans.
Through the years, we have entertained thousands of fans though out Western PA & Weirton WV with some of the biggest memorable moments. Such as “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs Josef Von Schmidt went to battle in cage match in the bloodiest match in company history, to Andrew Palace dethroning 18-month dominant champion Josef Von Schmidt, to Ray Rowe now known as Erik of one half of WWE Viking Raiders defeating then champion Lazlo Arpad by DQ thus not winning the title due title not being able to change hands by DQ. To Scott Hall making his debut to DJ Z aka WWE LWO member Joaquin Wilde wrestling Andrew Palace & Lazlo Arpad for 5 Star title. To Eric Bischoff making Tom Mitchell & Nolan Peirce honorary NWO members.
Throughout the years multiple notable talent has come through such as “Big Bully” Busick, Scott Hall, Shane Douglas, Shima Xion AKA WWE LWO member Joaquin Wilde, Ray Rowe aka WWE Erik of the Viking Raiders, James Ellsworth, Eric Bischoff, Buff Bagwell, Haku, Barbian, Gangrel, 2 Cold Scorpio. Along with thousands of up-and-coming talents.
We ran our last event in 2018 in Butler PA. So, we thought……. Five years later …. “Diamond” Joe Rogers decided to relaunch the brand that he helped co found in 2010.
